Can I swap the wheels on my clio for ones with bigger rims with no ill effects?
I have recently purchased a renault clio for my girlfriend. It's only an S reg but in Good Condition. The only problem is the wheel trims. She wants to change them but doesn't like any she can find that are 13". All the ones she likes are 14". Is it possible to change the wheels so that just the rim size changes and have no ill effects ie speedo out or wheel rubbing on car. At the moment the wheel measurements are 155/65 r13. So is it possible to change each wheel to 155/65 r14 without any effect on the car.
Try calling a good tyre company (not one whose name starts with a K) as they will be able to advise you about sizes, circumferences and most importantly availability.
Call this number (01474) 327855 and ask for Lee or Tony.These guys really know tyres inside out and have over 40 years of combined experience.
I've just thought of something else, after I submitted my answer. It doesn't relate to tyres but I feel it's important.
You say it's an S reg. There is a design fault in the R,S & T reg Clio bonnet catch which can cause the bonnet to open and fly back into the windscreen when the car is travelling at speed, usually on Motorways. Renault know of the problem but can do nothing to rectify it.
I strongly suggest that you fit bonnet pins to stop this from happening. They are quite cheap and easy to fit.
