Keep Blowing Fuses On My Amplifier and Subwoofer?
I have a single 4 ohm Boston Acoustics g5 10" subwoofer hooked up to an Alpine PDX1.6.
My subwoofer is 450 RMS
My Amplifier throws out 600 RMS at 2 ohm and 4 ohm. Whether its 2 or 4 ohm, it puts out the same wattage, so dont question this. My amplifier has been tuned by a professional. My wiring is yes the right gauge infact. Everything is properly secured ground, etc. So when I Turn my Subwoofer up why do I keep blowing fuses? Sometimes its on my amplifer sometimes its on my subwoofer. Im getting pisssed off cuz these fuses cost like five bucks for two.
www.12volt.com check teh fuses on the amp versus power to see how much u need. fuses may be too low.
now the voicecoil fuses popping on the G5? I'd double check teh polarity AND wiring. I had a similar issue with my speaker wiring and reinstalled the sub box wiring and the fuses stopped blowing. Some wires were trickling out. I love thos Boston fuse holders. They are in fact the correct amt for the voice coil I hear so the standard stock should work. My guess is wiring issue. possibly a remote wire being grounded or one of your speaker wires touching ground or crossing over or maybe out of phase.
