Buying Stanton Dual CD Player for DJ work?
I am looking at purchasing a Stanton Dual 501 CD player, that plays MP3,s for mainly personal use and the occassional DJ work for family and friends, nothing professional. Has anyone purchased this piece of equipment, have you had any problems with it, does it work well and would you recommend it?
I own it & it's a very good CD player. I've never had any problems with it, it works well & I recommend it.

I didn't recommend it just because I own & it's a good product. I use it with an American Audio Q-Spand MKII mixer which is a good mixer.

But on my blog I recommend using it with the TASCAM X-15 Mixer.

Both mixers are the same price, but the X-15 is a better mixer than the Q-Spand MKII, I just happen to prefer using the Q-Spand MKII over the X-15.
The Stanton C.501 is not only the best 19" rackmount dual CD player for $300, but no other dual CD player in it's price range comes close.
The C.501 does not feature scratch emulation, but scratch emulation is not very good on low priced dual CD players.
Slot loading is better than tray loading, but that's a feature usually reserved for higher priced dual CD players. So I don't fault the C.501 for being a tray load CD player.
Also for beat matching, only higher priced dual CD players imitate Vinyl Turntable cuing, all lower priced dual CD player use stutter cuing. If you're used to using vinyl, it will take a little getting used to using stutter cuing.
The C.501 is very reliable & it has good pitch control for a $300 dual CD player.
If your Furman (power conditioner) features lighting, I recommend placing the CD drive unit directly under your Furman, because the C.501 does not have any lights for the CD trays.
Although you don't plan on using it for professional DJing, nobody likes equipment failure in the middle of a party. That's why I don't recommend unreliable low quality gear like American DJ, Behringer, Gemini, Gemsound, GMI, MTX, Pyle Pro, Pyramid & Technical HiFi.
