Professional Mixer
My computer will not play sound. Says there is no active mixer devices available! HELP?
I have a Dell Optiplex GX270. It will not play sound and when I try to bring up the volume control it says there is no active mixers devices available. Any ideas????? I am running Windows XP professional. I am at my wits end with this one.
Your sound card drivers may be uninstalled or corrupted.
1. Click on Start | Control Panel | Sounds, Speech and Audio Devices | Sounds and Audio Devices | Audio Tab.
Where it says Default Device is it blank, or something like modem 1? If so click on the down arrow and see if there is a listing for something like "Sound Blaster" or "ADI" (most common sound cards for this computer).
If not, download and install the drivers from Dell's Website (usually it will have its own install program)-- Make sure you have removed the drivers from Add/Remove Programs before installing the new drivers.
