being a dj for many years, i have grown a little bias. turntables offer more flexability, if you are going to do "scratching" as for cd players, with loop points, and instant start, it is definately easier to do "beat juggling" and other styles. tirntables are more hands on, offering more for the audience to see, and therefore expierience. so, in retrospect, i would say that if you are mixing dance music, ie. house, disco house, trance, and whatnot, go woth cd players. try the stanton s314 models, i believe they are sold in a package as well. but, if you are looking to mix Hip Hop, funk, jungle, drum and bass, or other "breakbeat" styles, then go with turntables. stanton offers up some good decks at affordable prices, as does gemini.
