How do I make hard shell tacos from scratch?
Hi! I'm trying to make hard shell tacos at home and all the recipes I've seen call for corn tortillas which call for cornmeal, masa harina or polenta, none of which I've got. I have cornstarch though, so is there any way I can improvise? Thank you!
I don't think you can make something with cornstarch that will resemble a hard taco. Hard taco shells are usually made from coarsely ground corn. Cornstarch is just starch. It's sort of saying you want to make a brick walk but all you have is sand.
You could use rice or beans as a base in a bowl and make a taco bowl. You could use chips and call them nacho tacos.
